Neville Goddard Teachings Are Practical?

I am not sure many people would say that Neville Goddard teachings and his Law of Assumption techniques would be considered practical advice but that is exact how I see it. Below I am going to give the basics of Law of Assumption, the ways it connects to very practical advice, and how you can apply it in your own life in a way that feels sustainable.

Before we begin, let me tell you a little about Neville Goddard. He was born in Barbados on Feb. 19, 1905. In 1922 he made his way to the United States as a teen to study dance and he spent the rest of his life here with visits back home.

Neville gave lectures in cities all over from the 1950's through the early 1970's and published multiple books sharing that our consciousness creates reality. Many refer to his teachings as Law of Assumption or Law of Belief (lesser known).

Neville taught that we are all asleep, we have forgotten who we are, and that God is truly within us. He believed that you can techniques to shift your assumptions until they harden into facts - including things that have happened in your past through revision.

If this is your first introduction to Neville you might be questioning where the practical advice is going to come from if he taught that consciousness creates reality but many scientific theories point to this truth as well. But, enough for now - I am going to be publishing a series of blogs uncovering the teachings of Neville Goddard as well to apply what he taught to your own life - practically.

What are Neville Goddard Teachings?

One of Neville's more well known books is Feeling is the Secret, in which he shares that creating the feeling you already are what you want to be is the secret to actually becoming that in your life. He goes on to share that one of the fastest way to bring this into your is by using the time before you drift off to sleep - he refers to this time as SATS, state akin to sleep. I have an entire blog post on this alone, you can read it here.

Now how is this logical....? Because your brain actually activates similar pathways when you visualize and the more this becomes a natural feeling to you, the more your nervous system is prepped to accept this as a truth and seek the confirmation around you. Modern neuroscience says the brain does not really distinguish between vividly imagined experiences and real ones.

And get this, every mental rehearsal you return to strengthens the neural connections related to that experience. The stronger that connection, the stronger your belief in its reality. You are creating the feeling of being that person who has the life you want and the more you connect emotionally with that feeling, the better.

Back to Neville - he says eveurthing that can created, is created. Creation is finished, you are selecting the reality you wish to experience.

I can't tell you exactly how things work or how using this techniques can seemingly create magic in your life but I can tell you that science is getting closer to confirming what mystics have shared for quite a long time.

If you are looking for the logic, then know that repeated emotional visualization in a relaxed state conditions the nervous system, reinforces identity, changes perception, and primes the brain to move toward a new reality.

I believe in the magic all around us - I don't see how you can't if I am honest. We are literally on a planet that orbits perfectly around a sun at a safe enough distance to keep us alive in a freaking galaxy that exists in a massive universe of 2 TRILLION other galaxies....like what? Yes, I believe in magic. But, I also like to understand the science, how it all connects, and how to easily use it in my life.
